Alright, so I’ve not been that crazy on upcoming anime… Alright, that was just a plain faced lie; I literally went all fanboy when I heard Busou Renkin and D.Gray-Man were getting the anime treatment. Well, I was browsing around, and came across an upcoming anime post… which I don’t normally, read through but when I saw what the third anime on the list was, I was instantly ecstatic.

So what the hell is Seto no Hanayome and why the heck do I seem so hyper over it you say? Because, I’ve read the manga and it was brilliant… although I can only find scanlations up to chapter 12, being nearly halfway through volume 3 when there are 2 whole volumes out D: Now, I hear it’s going to become an anime and it’s coming out soon XD. Now to some important bits, like what is it…
Seto no Hanayome tells the story of Nagasumi Michishio, who while on vacation drowns. Almost dying he is saved by a mermaid and wakes up back on the beach. Later that day after trying to convince his family that he had been saved by a mermaid, a girl who looks just like said mermaid, San Seto, shows up. According to mermaid law, if a human sees a mermaid’s true form, both have to be killed. The only solution to the problem is for him to marry her. But can they keep her secret from being found out when she turns mermaid when splashed with water? And can Nagasumi survive his in-laws, especially the violent manic of a father-in-law while trying to build a better relationship with his wife, San?
Now, the manga was absolutely brilliant when I read it… heavy on the visual comedy with at times extremely simplistic artwork. But what really gets me (and hopefully gets adapted well for anime) is the comedy of it. San’s family is utterly wacky and you can expect the most random of things to happen. This will be cemented probably as my laid back rib tickler for when it comes out in April.
For those who want to check out the first chapter
Air date is the first of April and the studio doing it happens to be Gonzo… Now Gonzo does alright in adaptations. Not the best, but at least it’s better than the studio that seems to have taken over doing Bleach at the moment. They did do ‘Welcome to the NHK’ which was quite well done in my opinion and I hope they can pull this off decently as well… From the website, alone, it looks to be good…

So, this is one of my highlights for the season, although there are a lot more coming like Idol Master Xenoglossia, Claymore (which does look extremely interesting as well actually) and El Cazador to look forward to as well. Hopefully, this new season can bring in some newer better anime XD

I am looking forward to that as well, lots of promising series coming up in the next few months, Seto no hana yome, El Cazador, Claymore, etc
Yeah, no need to worry about what to check out for the next season… we got some ones with big potential coming up XD
We’re in the same boat in hoping Gonzo pulls off our anticipated anime adaptations properly. They’re doing Bokurano, which I’m *really* looking forward to as it’s a brilliant manga, and I’m praying they don’t screw up. As you said, Gonzo have been doing pretty good lately with NHK and one of my favourite 2006 series, Red Garden. I think many NHK manga readers didn’t like the anime that much, though.
I wasn’t that disappointed with NHK, it was an alright adaptation of an ongoing manga. Gonzo have shown they can pull off a decent anime adaptation. I just hope they can keep at it…
