Call me crazy (please don’t, it hurts my feelings somewhat) but I have only recently watched the new Death Note OP, and since then, I fell in love with it. My first time hearing something so close to heavy metal used as an OP for an animé and I loved the sound so I went to get the album it went with, Buiiki Kaesu. From it, I actually found that What’s Up People!? was actually one of the only pure rock tracks from Maximum the Hormone for their new single. The rest was a smooth fusion of pop mixing with metal, and I loved every minute of it. XD

I, being the audiophile I am, got their whole works and from their earlier, more pure rock, I actually enjoyed this album much more for its very unique sound. My top picks would have to be Buiiki Kaesu, Zetsubou Billy, Kuso Breakin No Breakin Lilly, Chu Chu Lovely Muni Muni Mura Mura Purin Purin Boron Nururu Rero Rero and Koi no Megalover.

Out of them all, I would say Chu Chu Lovely Muni Muni Mura Mura Purin Purin Boron Nururu Rero Rero was my absolute favourite of the album. The name withstanding, this song was brilliant for bring together the two extremes, bringing together some of the band’s most pop like melodies and mixing it well to switch easily to one of their most heavy metal sound.

Koi no Megalover is a close second for around the same reason for me. I checked the video for this and others and I loved them. Sure, Daisuke, the main vocalist flails around in a seizure every so often, but the videos are pretty good ingeneral. Though, on seeing them, I have a new goal; to grow hair like the lion (like Ryo).

I would say my favourite video would be that for Zetsubou Billy, as we get to see some new sides of the band (the rap thing doesn’t count, the gothier look does).

Well, just goes to show you how great anime is; from hearing just one opening, I have picked up a new band that has now cemented itself in my list of top bands. Good stuff!

On a side note: I apologise for not posting much lately. With study leave around the corner, I have been swamped by school work and once study leave hits I hope to get back into the swing of things because face it, I’m not going to be studying during study leave. =P
