I remember a long while ago (probably before the whole spring season rush) browsing leisurely through a post on Danny Choo’s Site on some event coverage (I can’t remember which) to which I paused, mouth agape, for a long while on seeing a single photo of a poster heralding the Devil May Cry anime was to come out this month. Thankfully, I somewhat forgot and thus did not hype myself up for another series which is the usual norm and thus saved some heartbreak.
Don’t get me wrong, the first episode was quite good but from seeing the manga and the games, if I truly set those as the bar, I would be surely disappointed. I say the only real disappointment was the introduction of the ‘ojou-sama’ Patty, who like all other brat characters is a major brat who gets on my nerves.
Dante however is still very cool. Even though his whole disposition is very different from how I remember them. In the games, he was more laid back who would crack some great lines. The only time I got the same feeling was in the beginning sequence with the single word, ‘Bingo!’ This aside, the more morbid and held back Dante is still alright and still delivers in coolness during very good fight scenes.
I absolutely love the music which set a brilliant mood and the art style reminded me a lot of Hellsing, what with the slimmer elongated limbs but that wasn’t much of a concern as it was still quite top notch. All in all, a good first episode. Hopefully, my opinion of it will raise up with the next episode which from the preview looks to be better.
So in summary, the show needs less of this…

…and more of this.

If these point could be met, this show would be a definite WIN…

Just saw episode, one I think its quite cheesey the way Dante owns everything, especially the scene in the theatre
…Somehow, this show just so reminds me of how naruto is, only with all the good parts taken out and replaced with cheesy lines.
I managed to download the whole series, streaming doesn’t do it justice. Yes, I agree the cheesy lines ruined it, but as it gets further into it you see less of the girl and longer fight scenes. Watch the whole series, you can download it from http://www.isohunt.com, stream it through Utorrent.
