After a long bout of seeing things just go downhill, I am in epic awe of how great it is to see the Gurren Brigade back to a level of it’s old glory. It was beautiful…. Now, the majority of the episode was about something completely different though.

Now, that is a sky to fight for…

A filler-like premise but I at least enjoyed it, we got to see what Yoko was up to during the time skip. The little Yomako-Sensei story was quite good, and it is surprising how well the teacher life suited Yoko. The Ganmen attacking near the end felt a little random to me, but seeing Yoko make a cool comeback and totally taking them out surely made up for it.

The look works… because it’s hot…. like Yoko.

Finally we get to experience something I have been anticipating since the new OP sequence was first shown, having Ganmen in space. This will be so cool and I anticipate a lot of great action sequences. Speeches in Gurren Lagann all seem to be extremely motivating, I was quite ‘moved’ when Viral and Simon said, ‘Who do you think we are?’

Practising speeches must be a pastime in prison.

This was a good episode that really just sets the stage now, making the anticipation for the next episode all the more better. To next week hopefully….
