As a proud Brit, I would gladly take up this flag. The creator says, ‘It represents shouting “UNION!” and joining together; kicking reason to the curb and doing the impossible; fighting the power, and piercing the heavens.’ I assume it is a mistake of the Telegraph to say union instead of unification.
All too hilarious, from the website of the crappiest of our broadsheets. Also, I found it through Derailed By Darry. Don’t know what is more funny, the whole situation or the fact that the Gurren Flag won the vote at 55%.
PS. Oh god, the Telegraph is extreamly crappy but this is quite bad indeed with no research done into it by the looks of it. Calling this a dragon for one thing, to which a commenter stated ‘If the top-voted design tells us anything, it is a fitting emblem of the dominance of the Devil in this once wonderful Christian country.’ =_= As a confirmed and practising Christian, I saw nothing wrong with it and am thinking this commenter has looked way too deeply into it.
PPS. Also, as a Royal Naval Reserve with quite a lot of backing, I am appalled to see a British journalist mistakenly calling it the Union Jack when it is not flying from the mast of a boat. It’s the Union Flag.
