Did all the same production company of Hayate no Gotoku work on this, because it is giving off the same way of delivering a lot of their humour. The artwork looks similar too. The only thing missing is the awesome butler story and the more lovable characters. This show still has a certain charm that makes this show enjoyable and hell, i love this kind of humour, especially the introduction with the random smoke explosions like a sentai show. The comments on that were hilarious.
Aya Hirano can’t seem to escape the role of Konata of Lucky Star now. The character she plays now is almost the same character just with esper powers… and more into Idols.
I don’t know… It is a charming show and all, but with so much more this season, most setting an incredible pace already, I can see this falling to the wayside. May be seen in batch later on.
Words cannot explain how awesome this episode was. What happened at the end of episode 25 is finally revealed, albeit in a quick way. I still think Suzaku is broken for being able to get the bomb off Lelouch with that 20 metre spin kick. I felt it harsh how Suzaku just gave him up to the Emperor who indeed has a geass, using it to erase Lelouch’s memories. Pretty emotional scene.
Suzaku is really rising through the ranks. He sold Lelouch for admission into the Knights of Rounds, and now he is the only one to see with the Emperor, the Sword of Akasha (or whatever its pronounced). Proclaimed as a weapon to fight God, I want to see what it is. I want to guess resurrection machine but I have way too many silly theories.
7 of the the 12 Knights of Rounds have been revealed… visually at least. Suzaku looks already at home amongst them,,, the damn traitor..
Lelouch/Zero is truly back in all his grand manner and already announcing the rebirth of the United States of Japan (I hate that name). All this is after a cool fashion, Lelouch kills yet another Leader of Area 11. He has a thing about killing them off I guess.
Excuse me but… Kaguya-hime!!!!
Diethard, Sayako and Rakshaka are safe and fine, and I am glad to see them back, them being some of my favorite characters.
Rollo’s Knightmare is the total pwnage! Seriously, it rocks and even moves fast enough to disappear visually - that needs some explanation. Seriously, such a cool mech. I hope all the new Knightmare Frames are to this level of coolness. The Black Knights need upgrades.
Does everyone have a Geass now? The chinese guard got Geass PWNED like the chinese ambassador by Lelouch I guess. I look forward to the next episode of Code Geass so badly and how it goes. From the preview, it looks to be Lelouch will be be playing the role of Geassed Lelouch to try to get the true identity of Rollo, and his true intentions from him. Man, this will be awesome.
Embarrassed Kallen is total win. I wish for more CC fan service though….
I planned to do this a little more detailed but school and watching raws has completely eaten my time… I took these screenshots during a chemistry lesson actually. So well, I said I was going to do a more in depth look but facing the truth, not so much happens in it, except Lelouch regaining his memories in one of the most fan satisfying ways ever. Most of the new information for the series can be garnered from the OP and ED with some bits here and there from the actual episode. I’m going to have a quick look at that.
Firstly an important point, being Lelouch is back in his old environment again. Villetta doesn’t seem to know about Lelouch being Zero by her actions and is a teacher. Lelouch has no reasons at all to skip her classes in my opinion. Shirley is again unknowing once again.
Interestingly enough, no one acts any differently to the complete lack of Nunally and the new addition of Rollo. This suggest the extent of the memory manipultion is quite large and whoever did it must be quite powerful.
Rollo has some time in the OP next to a distinctive Knightmare Frame and it is mostly he is a spy. The Frame makes me think he may be a one of the Knight of Twelve, the group Suzaku has now entered.
Suzaku is now a high rankingBritainian knight as can be summised from the fact that he took his order and gave his report to the Emperor in person. Lancelot (and alle striker pack =P) return. As an old favourite, I have to say its charm was with its quick movements and the swords. Now he favours the air with a gun, which while powerful before, now has a new attachment from its backpack.
I don’t generally like transforming mech which turn into other vehicles because most times the designsare just damn awkward to accomadate the other design. In this case, the design was fine but it was an unnessesary need. it wasn’t that much of a change really, and it is still able to fly in the air. The pilot seems way too chummy with Suzaku…
Loli pilot with a frame quite similar to Virtue Gundam from Gundam 00. Fitted with what looks like four hadron cannons (I should really go over how weird the physics is in the show) to produce a huge overkill beam. I like the character design (especially the tatoos) and I hope she is developed upon.
Orange-Kun!! Jeremiah will be making a return this season. I want to find out what really went down at the end of episode 25 really. With how it all ended and then to just straight in without explaining how it came to this. I am looking foward to that each week.
Character dump… and my precious Kaguya-hime all the way in the back. T____T Glad to see a good stock of characters from the first season including a lot of my absolute favourites like Llyod and Cecille.
The emperor has the geass. This makes me think that he is behind Lelouch’s memory loss. VV in the end also is shown with the emperor showing perhaps from where he got a contract for the Power of the King. VV leading Suzaku in the right direction to capture and lure Zero from the Black Knights who desperately needed him.
The plot is now pulling into a much larger conspiracy involving the emperor as well as the large unknowns about him, VV and Suzaku as well. These are the questions I look forward to being answered the most in the upcoming episode. The next episode preview shows some more fighting but I know it is going to be awesome nonetheless. It comes out tommorow, I can’t wait.
On a slightly unrelated note, I am a secret mac fanboy running on windows and I was able to get this post done thanks to making my XP run laptop looking more like a mac, making me work faster and I swear, the actual machine ran faster too. My… what a productive use of a Chemistry class on a saturday. Just thought I would share, for some random reason. Clicky for larger…
Sadly after an epic first episode, the show has returned to a more serious, more common fantasy story-line. This isn’t the worse thing in the world to happen though and I am quite enjoying the story as it is so far. What I like is the feeling the show gives like I was playing an RPG game again, like Final Fantasy. As such, I will summarize it so.
Neeba, Fatina, Utu and Kally have left the party.
Equipment was repaired. Obtained Guardian Armour. Spent 300 gilda, 0 left.
Kaaya and Ahmey joined the party. Equips Broom (+1 Atk).
Battle - Defeated 8 cloaked figures. Gained 0 gilda, 0 items. +326 exp. +1 level.
I like the little change in the OP to reflect Jil’s new party. Jil isn’t as crappy as we thought from the end of the first episode, he seems to have a very high defense stat, just a really low evasion one. As evident by how much he was hit upon in this episode.
This episode introduces Kaaya who is featured heavily in the OP. I like here XD The end of the episode really kicks up the story and I am actually looking forward to seeing more and finding out where this goes. Until next week!
Can I just start off by saying how much I failed at understanding this. My grasping of the language is quite pitiful and even now after my third watch of it, it is hard to catch a lot of the dialogue. Thankfully I got the gist of it from a little help from the manga and well, quite a bit of the comedy was visual so I didn’t feel left out from the fun.
I would try to summarise the episode but I fell I would do a really poor job on this as I am still a little unsure. The japanese wasn’t that especially hard per se, but coupled with lightning pace and my small vocabulary, it ended up becoming a much tougher thing to grasp. I will peruse it over the weekend, slowing looking up parts that are out of my depth, at my own leisure but I didn’t have time today…
For a good summary on what went on, if you just can’t wait for the subs can be found here by totali. This episode was hilarious and Rito being chased down for being with a hot girl had me reeling no matter how cliche it was and him landing with Lala sans clothing right in front of Haruna had me giggling. Peke clothing Lala is already getting old and unnecessary. The little ‘Oh Yeah’ when Rito first saw Lala in the morning had me cracking up for a while.
I am really enjoying this and I can’t wait for a sub. Also I can’t seem to draw Rito’s hair exactly right… Did some doodles as I was trying to take notes on the show. orz
Oh boy, I was excited when I heard this was coming out. Even more so after experiencing some! I was waiting for this for quite a whole since it came out. I nearly cracked and watched it raw. lol.
Soul and Maka are a great pair. I love their interplay and I like to see them fight… and seriously I get to see something I have always wanted - well done scythe fighting. The action was fluid, neatly choreographed and all out was just awesome. I am really happy about how this turned out and am really anticipating more action galore!
Soul Eater is a series that I have unfortunately not read up on much of the manga of. I have read a volume but I am unsure why I didn’t continue as I remember it being good. Possibly, this was during my manga funk. What I loved about the show was the diverse alternate world, especially the stylish Sun and Moon. Creepy but some damn cool.
I am really loving the characters in this show. Maka and Soul are cool, but Shinigami-sama and Maka’s father are just down right hilarious. ‘Shinigami Choppu!’
All in all this was a brilliant start and I damn well look forward to more. XD
Out of the fanservice-y shows this season, ToLoveRu is winning… by actually being enjoyable to watch. Sorry, Kanokon, but I would drop you in a heart beat for this show. XD We’ll see how good the rest of the season is and how school goes I guess, but ToLoveRu has gotten it permanent spot in my ‘to watch list’ this season.
Weird to say this but Xebec has finally done something right. Being a Manga Elitist Bastard, I worry for the manga when it is adapted to anime. I really worry, but thankfully my fears were abated and in my opinion this was really well done. More so because it is a show with a lot of fanservice.
To me, a good application of fanservice is within moderation and albeit the few unnecessary moments like the orgasm filled Peke clothes transformation scene (to which her outfit is damn ugly to me), it has been alright. At least it is not overwhelming me by being in nearly enough every scene like Rosario to Vampire. XD
The show starts off with a weird Star Wars parody from my eyes. It could be another but I am not so well read to spot this, but I did think I picked up the wrong show by accident or something for a bit. lol.
The OP played and I loved it. More fanservice content than what was in the actual show in my mind but I liked it a lot. The animation was very stylised to my express liking and the actual song rocked. I have the song replaying on YouTube while I read this now actually. In fact, I had a liking to the entire soundtrack of ToLoveRu in general from what I heard of in the first episode. This is the same intense like I had to watching Seto no Hanayome for the first time.
Rito’s introduction made him seem kinda stalker-like, but explains it quite well to great comedic effect. I may like my witty humour (us British with our dry British wit) but senseless non serious violence makes good comedy too - particular the movie ‘Flushed Away’ proved this to me. The girl that Rito likes, Haruna, is introduced well in a way that you really can’t hate her and I myself like her as a character but against the huge palette of characters that are coming she just pales in comparison for me.
Lala turning up is where the fanservice of the show really begins actually, with her appearing in his bath tub, while in use. I didn’t really get a good feel for the character of Rito during my read of the manga, but I really like him in the anime. Especially his thoughts as Lala is about to be taken away; ‘They’re stepping on my carpet with shoes!’ I found this hillarious.
The conflict of the episode is really squished into the second half, feeling kinda rushed but not overly so. At Zasten’s arrival, I finally figured out where I heard that voice before. That’s Mwu La Flaga! This is one of the first times I have really noticed the voicing before, apart from Shana to Louise of whom, the VA I can never remember the name of and I hope this shows I am becoming more attentive to the actual dialogue.
Lala summoning her invention seemed like a seen from a Sentai show and the CGI machine did not look so good at all, seemingly randomly added in when a drawn one would have been fine. Tasteful CGI is getting to be a very rare thing to see.
In the end, it finally shows itself as a love comedy with Rito accidentally confessing to the wrong person - Lala not Haruna. This was a move that would suit School Rumble, and I was in stitches as it happened. All in all, I have to say I see this show being an enjoyable one to watch as it goes on, and my worries at this adaptation can be forgotten. Xebec, don’t you dare mess this up!!
Subbing is pretty slow on this. I think in the end, this show may be my pick to be gotten raw every week, in my attempt to try to improve my japanese listening skills. I am expecting to do a small post on Thursday as it comes out raw or the following day depending and then follow it up with a proper post on sub release. Sadly, this will probably never get released as fast as Code Geass. I am really looking forward to more now, after seeing this episode.
Finally, I watched this. It took effort to get past the single digits and finally I got hooked… Just in time to finish episode 25 and end up in a long wait for Gundam 00 to resume itself. ORZ.
As a note, the Exia had some pretty awesome fights. I liked its combination with the assault canister and it survived the longest, outlasting the others that were all mangled pretty badly. Graham turning up out of nowhere and Setsuna and him just smashing each other to pieces was kinda random though. The guy used to be cool until he shouted his love for Setsuna. In fact, most of that fight was a shouting match… They are audio and visually com-linked through the two cockpits, where was the necessity to shout at each other.
Setsuna better be back when it starts up again. Hopefully, they don’t pull a Destiny and have him come in a long way in. I hear the fools fans who watched Destiny really hated that. I felt his connection to Marina was quite weird and out of there as well, especially as what is somewhat his Shigofumi makes it’s way to Marina’s inbox.
Hallelujah pulled off an Agito/Akito (ala Air Gear). Remove the ocular obstructions from both eyes and enjoy the total owning of the opponent. More of his past is revealed but not so much that we could understand exactly what was going on but it seems he knows the other super soldier lady (forget her name). Pretty well it seems. He’ll be back. He better because I want this plot-line resolved.
Lock-On died… (or Sunrise will bring him back). This was a shock really, because he almost died already. What was weird was how gay Tieria was being over it, and Lock-On in general. I feel sorry for Feldt really. I really do, but luckily she survives. The rest of the bridge bunny crew however, sadly not. Random emotional content by way of romance added to the death scene. I was confused at where it was all coming from. I hope Tieria is long gone as I hated that bastard. Time Skip epilogue seems to show a character very reminiscent of Tieria. Hopefully it is not him and this time the right gender. I hope this doesn’t roll down the manufactured clone route or something.
Also, was it just me or this middle of the entire show climax seemed rush and not so thought out. Mainly, I state the middle boss in his all to tacky looking gold suit. But oh well, he was taken out nicely by Setsuna. It was awesome.
The epilogue at the end was horrid that it made me all excited about what could happen, with the little things they did show - including the actual Gundam 00. That has me pumped. Although I want more of this, Code Geass will keep me more than satisfied.
Also, I may rewatch Gundam Wing for the heck of it. I loved the series. I am also reminded that I have a half finished Strike Noir in storage too. I need to get back to my precious Gunpla… and finally get that Wing Custom VerKA.
It is out… It is out! My fanboyness will not let me do my schoolwork and has forced me to watch this. I am not complaining! XD My new procedure will be a quick first impression of each Code Geass episode as soon as it is out, with a slightly more detailed follow up later in the week. So here’s the first impression of the new season.
The impression is it is absolutely awesome. What first got me into the series was the from the very first episode’s ending and the second season’s first episode perfectly emulates the feeling. I am feeling really good about this season. If this doesn’t keep me blogging, I don’t know what will.
Carrying on from the the fanboy squealing from episode 25 of the last season, I am loving where this seems to be heading. Lelouch is back, in his ever cool stylish manner and the stage is reset as Zero begins again. I hope for more of the same as we have seen from the first season.
Kallen in a bunny suit is a good direction to go. Noteworthily from the episode, I am expecting some very good mecha action. Instead of the total owning of the lancelot dominating the last season, there seem to be much more single made custom Knightmare Frames. I hope they push more mecha fights. The Gurren Mk II vs the Lancelot was one of my highlights of the first season.
I love C.C.’s clothing here… I want to see her wear it in the actual show. Onto the OP, I really am liking it, to the point of being addictive enough to loop it. This is quite a departure from the Orange Range I remember but I am liking it. The ED not so much but I did enjoy the Clamp art-style work on the main characters.
Makes me want to draw again, I have only ever drawn Geass fan art. Hope to do more… Hopefully, a more detailed analysis will come soon. XD
EDIT: Hot damn, I forgot Pizza hut still supports the rebellion too. I would screenshot it, but I cant remember where in the episode it was. ORZ… thanks RuKi for reminding me.
How did Gonzo get Tower of Druaga done alright but not this. This show suffered from bad dialogue, a boring storyline and damn ugly CGI. Seriously, making it move faster doesn’t make it look any less ugly. To me this was a flop. I will probably not pick this up, but may give the second episode a try.
Thankfully, the whole anime by the companies on the internet thing has Tower of Druaga to fall back on. Hopefully, it will stand up because it is getting no support from here.
