Hell, this is all I will look forward to now. The PV for the new School Rumble OVAs (released similarly in volume like Tsubasa Chronicles) is now streamable from the Official Site. It looks good, and it looks to cover quite a number of key chapters (fan appeasing ones) from the manga. This is going to be so amazingly awesome!

Everytime I watch this, it seems to get better and better. The episode was a hilarious Fubuki centric episode but really, it was the other characters that completely made the episode. One of the most funniest moments was when Kousuke got out of the sauna to look lean and well, probably hunkish looking to at least Naeka, which I found creepy. And then, he reverts back to his old self on filling up with liquid refreshment.
And now, Kogarashi is just awesome! Like always actually but yeah. He has Maid Guy Levitate, using it and weighing in as 0 kg. And foiling Fubuki’s cheat at the scales to get 35 kg (that is damn light btw. This is not the first time I have seen such a small weight value. Are the Japanese on average much lighter) and the unabashed way of his telling her that she is heavier than the average medium sized Maid. XD
Maid Guy Day Dream Illusion, showing horrific images of turning into DFC’s. The way Fubuki and Naeka were writhing around in pain was oh so hilarious. Man, the Maid Guy is awesome.
Seriously, not so much happened… just a few intense moment but overall this episode seemed shorter than the rest. It is public now that Nunnally is the General Governor now, and about her plans to reinstate Euphie’s old plan, bring equality to Area 11 and giving the Japanese back their nationality. Obviously this is not met well with the Japanese owing to how the last time this was promised, the princess went on a massacre spree. Anyone want to see Nunnally on a kill spree now? Also, it is kind of touching (if I didn’t hate Suzaku) how close he and Nunnally are… especially the hand touch. Also, I find it funny how low an opinion the Japanese have of him.
And… Kaguya-Hime! This episode alone was great for the decent amount of Kaguya. I like her utter devotion to Zero, when really most would really think they were doomed. Zero does save them all in the nick of time there though. But her devotion is pretty deep, her being so lenient of Zero, I would have thought she would be possessive. Now I like her even more! Like before wasn’t enough…
“And together we will be Zero-sama’s Harem, and we could do each others hair while one of us take their turn with him. Ah, a hero like him will definitely be able to last enough for all three of us. It was like that in the doujins I have read!”
I have no fucking clue what that was about… I have been moe’d out and my brain is on the fritz it seems. Also, I have only just noticed I have only seen one Kaguya doujin, and hell, Kallen was the main emphasis of it actually. Anyways, I have to say I like the outfits they are wearing and the awkward moment by Kallen and C.C.
Lloyd gets some more screen time as well, and Cecile too! What I want to know is why she is with Guilford there actually, but it is most probable that she came to see Suzaku but he left before he was actually discharged. And Cecile thought Guilford could use the food. I thought Guilford was about to rage when Lloyd picked up that sandwich but actually it was pity! XD Oh god, hilarious. There should be more of them, just cut down the Suzaku time.
It was at this time I though Lelouch had totally cracked. Lelouch has been so emo about Nunnally and has even been having a Shinji Ikari moment riding about in the train with no destination in mind. What finally we saw, though not that well was something I wanted to see for a while - Lelouch just absolutely abusing his powers. From geassing the whole compartment to leave and cram themselves into the adjacent to the weird things he got the Refrain sellers to do had me cracking up. I don’t know if he totally just didn’t care what he did right then or was particularly malicious. That one guy will probably do push up until he dies as Lelouch had given no conditions to stop. The others too - I laugh at the one who will die from dancing.
And we has a cute little C.C. moment. There has been at least one every episode recently (I so loved the gun malfunction) and I am liking that. She wasn’t like this in season one! I just wished she would play a bigger role than she has now - Kallen seems to be taking a fair share of the spotlight. I hope this means that the ending half will have more C.C. probably to really delve into the mysteries of the Geass. I would enjoy that.
Hot and steamy moment here… I loved it, almost like a moment from some indecent shoujou manga which I love. Lelouch was just so uncaring here, seeking comfort and just plaining stating out that Kallen should supply that, as only a woman can. Oh boy, he is as much a smoothe talker with the ladies as Ulquiorra.
And SLAP! woah, I actually wasn’t expecting that but then again, he isn’t wearing his mask and being very over the top about it so I can see why Kallen didn’t let him. What is funnier is if it did happen, Rollo would have been spying on it. Rollo seems to be so in love with his nii-san (ignoring the bit where he doesn’t comment on Lelouch mentioning Nunnally in his sleep to which it is kind of creepy that he was there for that) and is getting way too close. Physically.
And when I thought, it would all just be done and over with, as Lelouch rediscovers his way or some such tripe, it comes and slap me in the face with an awesome pwning of the Britainian empire yet again. My word, seeing those ships just topple over (which is extremely dangerous and would have probably killed a lot of people) was just damn hilarious and we see Lelouch is completly back in his game. Hm I want to have a little look at those ships again (have an interest in navel warfare I do) and about the Carbon Hydrates and see whether this would actually happen (at least a little bit if not at this grand level). I would do it now but I don’t want to chemistry myself out with my Physics exams this week. I got time to do both Physics and Chemistry when the final year module exams roll about in two weeks time. ORZ.
And so Zero announces joining the Special Administrative Region in his usual over the top way. It looks like not that much of the Black Knights like this decision either but we will have to wait until next episode to really see how this plays out. So here it end. Looking back, I thought it was weird when Lelouch’s friends stayed behind for him and their little talk about everybody… Does anyone know that Kallen is a terrorist? Also what was weird was the talk about the shape of happiness - like glass, that is always there but you can’t always see it, but if you look at it from different angles it shines. A weird if nice analogy, shame it came from Suzaku who even the Japanese knows that he sold Suzaku to the Empire… lol.
Well, I can’t wait for next episode, hope much more will happen as this episode was somewhat slow. Also, I apologise for how late this one is to my normal times but it was murder getting this episode. In advance, it is unlikely I will get to seeing and blogging Code Geass until the Monday of next week as I will be down in Kent all Sunday hopefully annihilating the the Kent Exiles yet again (46-8 last game, but it is a whole new game now. A sword requires thorough beating and we could be facing a team who really wants revenge). I look forward to this as I have been moved to a very good position in the roster and will probably start, but it doesn’t matter as long as I get at least as much play time as last game which was almost all. Ah God, I love American Football. Team Pride Blitz. Forgive the little Football rant.
Man this has been a long post… And I have an exam tommorow! D:
Forgot this came out yesterday… whoops. This week’s episode has the path through the tower being blocked by a one winged dragon. The army themselves are not having much luck against it and Jil has to persuade the Climbers to join forces to take down this dragon.
All in all it was a good episode but nothing too exciting, however we finally see Jil become proactive in a fight, being the first to stab the dragon. As we saw from the whole guard unit, Jil’s old method of fighting was ineffective here. It is a little bit disheartening to see almost the entire army decimated by this dragon though… The general and Ethana are a hilarious duo though.
Other points to note, Melt has bad aim at long distance golf (maybe he should stick to magic at Mini Golf), Kaaya is great trying to convince people and Neeba lost his old party to this dragon. The ghost like lady following him gives him a hard time about that too, and about how Jil will eventually surpass him. The fire chambers being the weak spot was somewhat obvious and the battle ended relatively tamely and without much epicness.
Next episode looks to be quite interesting. Something about Jil taking on the old tower. Also, I so can’t wait for a full OP single. I love it so much. XD
All the money seemed to have gone to this episode, owing to how much glorious action and (actually good) CGI was used. This episode was only musical extravaganza and an orgy of awesome mecha dog fighting… and I loved it.
Ozma has his Kira Yamato moment. I loved the action from before but it got spectacularly better on the large scale. The CGI really works well in this environment somehow. It was a spectacular show especially when Ozma released that volley of missiles.
And a little Sheryl fan service… The other half of the episode, mostly in the background to the fighting was a lot of music, mostly from Sheryl. Although some scenes were reused for her ‘Iteza Gogo Kyuu Ji Don’t be late’ it was a nicely choreographed scene between her and the action.
When the huge Vajra battleship/creature came out of warp, I was so stunned. This thing is massive and looked pretty unnerving. It was at this point, the Vajra reminded me more of the Tyrannid forces from Warhammer 40000, with their biological weapons and creatures even moving through space on a huge creature. I guess I never made the connectin before because the Vajra looked more bug like (though I have seen a swarm decked in beetle green with yellow markings) and are more freaking huge normally.
Is this the villiant then, perhaps behind the Vajra or another exterior force looking on to the battle. He just turned up for a small bit and then was never showed again, I am intrigued.
I loved here when Ranka joined in with Sheryl to sing the final song, although I wish we could hear the song clearer as there was a lot of loud action happening during most of this song, which sounded good to begin with.
And the backpack steals the show. I want one, even if I would never wear it. It was kind of sad how despondent Ranka looked on seeing Alto wasn’t there, and even worse when she realised that Ozma and Alto are probably out fighting as pilots. Although she pulls through and sings with Sheryl.
And you knew this thing could transform as soon as you saw how the bridge looked like an oversized head unit already… but it was still a cool moment to see it transform and then lay down its huge beam cannon attack. And the thing is, it was only using one, it had another one that it stored for that one shot.
Finally the dude from the opening has appeared. Although he actually saved Luca and Alto, it is still pretty suspicious what he was doing there and such. Perhaps I am suffering from already stereotyping him as a villain but you were all thinking it looking at the OP.
And I do have to say, this was an epic episode of a perfect blend of action and sound track. The next episode preview looks pretty low quality in terms of art, but after what they did for this episode, I am not surprised. The next episode looks to be interesting because of Sheryl at Alto’s school and in the flight suit.
Yeah. I hate him for what he has done to Kuu… Her poor hair, I miss the look already. Beside this, recently we got to know a little more about Kou and more about Miyako. And I am still so freaked out any time that Kuu goes to her inbetween forms state but hey, at least there has been a lot more girl form. XD
I want to know more about Kou and why she has this dragon scales thing going on. She is also pretty awesome when she gets serious in a fight. I think when she was trying to explain to the boys in episode 5 using her cute way of not explaining and just making noises, that my like for her character was greatly reenforced. Plus, I like the miko thing.
I was quite surprised to hear Miyako done by Horie Yui, and was expecting her to be a serious quiet miko, but man this was even better. I liked her energy and enthusiasm and am saddened that she is actually dead, although we saw her briefly after the instigation with Ebisu and Kuu.
Ebisu (although I hate him) is an interesting facet of a character. He sort of gives off the laid back atmosphere while still having to do his dues I guess. I somewhat wished he would do the work himself really instead of setting his guard dogs on people. Kuu is getting to be interesting as well. The whole imprisioned spirit thing looked like such angst bait but luckily it pulled from that. I like Kuu’s character and how she is developing. It is like Murasaki but less cute and endearing and more I can enjoy this without worrying about how creepy I seem.
I want the next episode desperately… More Sakura would be awesome. I love her delusions. XD
I find myself startled at how absolutely brilliant Kurenai has turned out. The summary of the show as I was preparing for the new season did not entice me at all and I brushed it off to my will-watch-eventually queue. Little did I know as I picked it up to watch, that I had unexpectedly struck gold.
Now, normally I don’t like little kid characters… well the ones who are really obviously brattish and at first, I hated Murasaki. But I think the pull of this show is Murasaki really growing out of this old disposition and learning to have more fun with Shinkurou. The whole cast of character around actually are wonderful. Yuuno with her obvious crush on Shinkuro, Ginko with her aloofness, Tamaki with her teasing, Benika with her cool autority and Yayoi with her stoicalness really bring a spark of life to this anime.
I love the subtlety of the story telling… nothing outrageous happens. There are no big reveals just allusions, well accept for Shinkurou’s arm thingy. The animation is splendidly fluid and where the need for action comes to play, it happens well and looks great on screen.
Episode 6 was an especially fun episode. When the idea of practicing for a musical came up, I was expecting Macross like music acts, but I was treated to hilariously bad singing (apparently all acted) and even when the quality went up, it was all natural and I liked that. A lot. Although I have some qualms about how weirdly they acted but hey, they were trying to do a musical. Particularly Yayoi, I enjoyed her coming out of her shell a bit here especially after seeing 5 episode of her loitering guarding outside.
This has turned out to be one of my favourites of the season. I definitely want to see where this will lead.
I almost forgot I watched this show… The subs of the back logged episodes came out in bulk quite recently, so I sat down to watch it all and it was good but pretty confusing at times. I can forgive it for that, with the intriguing action and the absolutely wonderful soundtrack.
The latest episode (well subbed) itself was pretty mind tripping, with what Shin was going through being so hard to follow at times, and creepily eerie at others which was awesome. Jun has been taken by the girl in red through a kiss, leaving behind Yuki. I can’t wait to see how this is going to be handled. Also, I have been noticing that the animation has been looking patchy in places when it was so good when it started.
What I did notice from watching many together was that it was common practice to get a very climatic or dramatic end to the episode, but the follow up at the beginning of the next is pretty minor or very vague. Code Geass suffers somewhat the same but with quickly resolved follow ups. Anyways, I am still thoroughly enjoying this show and hope to now keep up regularly again…
Every week, I sit down to watch this and it keeps on delivering me cool and slick action. I love it. I have been taking a large detour away from my shounen start into the anime scene but this is a great series to get back into the genre.
This soul resonance this is pretty cool actually. It was expected in a shounen action to get some form of power up, but I love this for its style. Death the Kidd’s one is one I look forward to seeing, coming from manga knowledge.
Black Star is an idiot, most of the time. If he could be more serious like he is at rare points, he would be pretty cool. Black Star is pretty cool, being one of the only ones so far to be able to attack with a lot of force without his weapon, but it just wasn’t enough this time.
Introduced was one of my favourite characters in the bits of the manga I have already read - Dr. Franken Stein. He has that whole cool ‘I can beat you with minimal effort’ feel when he goes on to give the team a thorough beating. The way he took out Black Star was amazing.
What I had in the manga, and also here was the feeling that this whole Soul Wavelength concept came out of nowhere. When it got layed on us, it was pretty thick and heavy. I loved the analogy to the Guitar and the Amp. Death the Kidd comes to school next episode, it should be awesome.
Oh my god… This is what I have been waiting for, a brillaint fight episode finally. Although, so much did happen and get revealed this episode, I am still in some awe from the fighting near the end. (And in awe that Kaguya got more than 2 seconds of screentime… Kaguya-hime!)
Rollo has his uses and it seems apparent that his Geass can only last about five seconds at a time it seems. I was wondering how Lelouch would get out of this perdicament as he surely doesn’t want to crush Nunnally but at the same time, he did promise not to lie to her. Luckily a Rollo was there to save his ass (funny how supernatural powers get him through most of his troubles…) and now Suzaku has doubt about whether Lelouch’s memories have returned and whether the new Zero is a fake.
New Loli… proably the Chinese princess… I hesistate to think she is the empress or what not… I want to know a lot more about the Chinese Federation… about their powrbase and how they operate. I would think that to make his take down of Britainnia effective, Lelouch would have to gain more favour with such a large power (one that has been alluded to).
Obligatory…. Kaguya-hime!!! Oh god, it was such a surprise to see her get a better amount of screen time. At least we find out where she has been hiding out at, like the rest of the important members of the Black Knights it seems.
If I were Lelouch, I would be less interested in the Chess board… Lelouch asks some poignant questions and gets some rather cryptic remarks from C.C. I still so desperately want to know what her wish is, the one stipulated when she gave Lelouch his powers.
And on the other side, the emperor calls V.V. nii-san which has me really confused… V.V. has been with the emperor since the Emperor’s childhood as a older brother like person seems the more likely thing. I really want some backstory explanation here. The geass side of the story is where a lot of my interest lays but we only het more information at a snail’s pace.
It is moments like this that remind me quite jarringly why Lelouch has seemed so cool to me. Nevermind the mincing about or the theratric affair, just ordering death and casuallly strolling to where he want to be was just awesome. And he always seems to have most of the bases covered, with the guard killing everyone in the guard room.
Obligatory Anya Screenshot… finally, we see the Mordred in action. Those four hadron cannons (physics lol) surely pack a huge punch desimating the other ship which was falling. A whole load of better mech just came to this, with the Knights of Round in their custom mechs, and Guilford in a one of the prototype mass produced units. Suzaku seems kinda haxed in his Lancelot now, with the new powerful gun attachment and him survivng pretty well under the Gurren’s Rad Arm where others have been completely decimated. Hell, the shot in the face did more damage than the rad arm did to the Lancelot.
The fighting was pretty cool to begin with, but it just got awesome with the improved Gurren who got remade mid flight in an epic and complicated manner and the aerial fights started in earnest against the Knights of Round. The Gurren is now packed with some awesome gadgets with a cool new Rad Arm which now can do long distance shots. Kind of lame for Guilford to be able to escape that. Finally, the Knights have an aerial frame too to match the Britainian ones, and it matches pretty well, disabling frames and the erradicating Guilford’s unit of mech.
What? Again!? Kaguya-hime! I got to say, I love R2’s new clothes designs for some of my favourite characters, like C.C.’s new outfit. I must say, that Ogi is sporting some cool new threads too. Why is he wearing that instead of the Black Knights uniform though?
I actually had no idea how much I missed Nunnally until she actuallly had some actual screen time in the longest time. Nunnally is trying to extend the same offer to Zero as Euphie did before her. We all know how well that turned out… and Lelouch remembers that quite negatively as well. He almost had her but spent way too long just talking to her. I thought it was harsh when Nunnally calls out to Suzaku for help, pretty much tearing Lelouch to pieces. And it seems that Nunnally may recognise Zero by his screams of Nunnally. This is getting more and more intriguing. I desperately await the next episode.
So yeah, I am now labled a loli master at least in relation with this show… meh, not like I am complaining. So many returning characters… my favourite is Lloyd who pulls off the weirdest exclamation ever when the Lancelot was hit in the head.
