I felt like I was hit by a sledgehammer while expecting a slap in the face. This is the feeling I had at stomaching the insane plot acceleration in this episode. In the past few weeks, the pacing has been slow with episode being not so important but ever it has been picking up steam just recently (I can’t believe I have Rolo to thank for it) and this episode saw quite a lot of the entire plot revolving around the Geass at least accounted for. We also got a little mention at what the Code in Code Geass is (it was lame however).
I was taken aback. I almost believed for a bit that the Emperor just upped and killed himself right there and then. It was so anticlimactic and I was so surprised when he got back up having taken V.V.’s ‘Code’ (Pfft) so no need to worry about his Geass now, just how to kill the damn bastard. Charles now having the ability to give out Geass may be profitable later on, or it could get cheesy. What follows was complete Mindfuck… not full on Gainax level but it was quite weird, to which we finally get confirmation to C.C.’s wish (which wasn’t having Lelouch’s child sadly - had such RomCom potential before, I was glad it got some back at the end) which was to die.
This is so what I have been looking forward to for a long while, getting to learn about C.C.’s past. From Loli Slave Girl C.C. to betrayed spoilt ‘Rich Girl’ C.C. was an enjoyable ride. We got some insight into the growth of the Geass, highly likely Lelouch will get to a two eyed stage soon. No wonder C.C. is such a cold person with the betrayal from the Nun though. The end was a great segment, even I was emotional, shouting at the screen for C.C. not to go through with it and for Lelouch to save her.
And in the end, we find C.C. with no memories from when she had come into contact with the Geass, rendering her a Moe Slave girl… I was almost expecting Lelouch to sport a grin like from the end of the first episode but then I remembered this was Lelouch we were talking about. A cute dependent girl wouldn’t have him grinning. I am very interested in where this is going. C.C. is one of my favourite characters and the new personality may make her more likable or the opposite. From the preview it looks to be good.
C.C. also seems to be without her Code. Either it is just faded for now since she doesn’t have her memories or either Charles or Lelouch now has it (we see Charles sporting his on the palm of his hand). Also, Shniezel gets a little power boost with something similar to a nuke which Nina has finally completed. From the OP it seems the big players will be Lelouch, Charles and Shniezel. Let’s see how that works out. Also, worthless Villetta and Ougi have their moment (Sayako was cool and so should have easily killed her) - something big better occur or I feel it will be a dragged on waste. Suzaku also didn’t drug Kallen (Gonna say her at any point, Lelouch? What about Nunnally?) and Nunnally is showing she is not one to be taken lightly. I like how she knew Suzaku was lying.
It does seem to be turning around but I suspect the next episode to not be as info packed as this episode but we can expect some nice C.C. fanservice and such. I know for one that always picks the show up no matter what. XD We are past the halfway mark, let see how much of a train-wreck this can be!
