A World Without Anymore Of This Anime Has Left Me In Despair. So a great anime has finished (or at least all been subbed now). No, I am not talking about Aria - unlike Ruki, who has cried enough tears that London turned into Venice, I haven’t caught up or got anywhere further than actually having it. I swear I will watch it soon, but I am a busy man (It looks awesome btw, lovely art). What I am talking about here is Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei or more specifically Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.
The last episode was just the same as usual going through the motions that made this show one of my favourite comedies ever. No big hurrah, no final super climax or resolution. I myself was surprised to find out it had ended. But in doing so, it kept on delivering. The Hatsune Miku inclusion had me absolutely guffawing.
And Kaede is the only fanservice of the show, she is just the more persistent one. I found the idea of a Tsundere Maid Cafe to be hilarious and at the same time somewhat appealing. In the last few episodes, it had enough coverage of most of the characters to make sure that I feel that I would miss each and every one of them now that the show is gone. Even Meru who I didn’t like at all but the final episode somewhat changed that.
There can only be one practitioner of the zetsubou-ken. This was a random but funny addition right near the end. I was once again reminded of all the subtle and sometime not so subtle homages and parodies in the show. I love the many Evangelion mentions especially in the episode with the counter-current.
So I mourn the passing of this show and as I look back I wonder why there wasn’t more of Itoshiki’s family. Those guy were hilarious. But anyways I will surely miss the this (and not the waiting painstakingly for it).
I’ll probably try to watch aria eventually, after I rewatch the Zetsubou Channel episode - Best Episode EVAR! I really really hope for a third season (said hope was talked about in one of the end episodes as well XD).
